
from Triathlon Ireland Website Last weekend saw triathletes travelling to Carlingford for the last standard distance National Series race where athletes raced to improve or maintain their positions in the National Series rankings. Also in Cork, Blackwater Triathlon Club, a new club formed earlier this year, ran their first sprint triathlon. A great day was had by spectators and competitors and Blackwater Triathlon are looking forward to next years race already!

275 Competitors turned up on the shores of Carlingford Lough for the 2008 Carlingford Standard Distance Triathlon and the race was a great success with local athlete Bryan McCrystal picking up his second win of the season in a time of 1:55:21, with Shane Scadding second 1 min 33 seconds being and Newry athlete Peter Savage 3rd a further minute and 14 seconds adrift.In the ladies race, the honours went to Eimear O’Brian from Northwest Tri in a time of 2:10:11, second was Keira-Eve Mooney from Belpark in 2:12:42. Third was Mary Laverty from Setanta in a time of 2:13:05.
In the relay category, the crack local team Plug & Company led by the man himself Plug Watters won in a time of 1:52:38, second was Team Think Pink in 2:01:36 and third was Team Swad Squad.
