
from Athletic Northern Ireland website The first Halloween Athletics NI Star:track cross country camp took place at the University of Ulster, Jordanstown last Thursday and Friday. The conditions for the camp were perfect, with the ground soft underfoot from prior rainy days and the sun shining continuously each day.
12 children took part this year and participated in dynamic warm ups, endurance and speed endurance games, speed sessions, hill work, core, balance and stability activities and a cross country race.
On Friday everyone took part in the cross country race were each competitor was given a different starting time based on age, gender and ability.
The winner of the 1000m race was Simon Smith with Harry Kyle in second and Joshua Hobson in third. For the girls it was first timer Disha Sinha Roy in first with Claire Le Velley close in second and Ellen Gracey in third.
