From the AAI website A very successful McDonalds Little Athletics Agility Challenge took place at Ballymore Cobh AC in Cork recently. The club is famous of course for having Sonia O’ Sullivan as one of its members.
The club is having big numbers attend their Little Athletics sessions and have numerous enthusiastic coaches/parents helping out. The sessions follow the Fundamental stage of the LTAD model with the focus on fun games developing Agility, Balance and Co Ordination. Club coach Phyllis Kidney has been delighted with the response to date. The club is having lots of the local school children attend their sessions on a weekly basis. The parents and local teachers have been very supportive and the kids seem to be enjoying themselves. These are the essential ingredients to building something sustainable. The future looks bright for Cobh athletics.
