
Class Field expected for Enniscorthy 10k on 10th February This year’s Enniscorthy 10K, hosted by Slaney Olympic AC, takes place on 10th February at 12 noon. This is the eight year of the race. The event attracts some of the best athletes in the country. Brian Maher of KCH was the winner last year ahead of Sean Hehir of Rathfarnham WSAF with Kevin Dooney of Raheny Shamrocks in third place. The women’s race was a battle between Linda Byrne and Maria McCambridge. Linda won the race and set a new course record of 32.52 in the process.
A quality field is expected again for this year’s race with entries coming in thick and fast. There is a first prize of €150 for the first man and woman. Also on offer is a men’s and women’s course record bonus of €250 and €200 prize for the first men’s and women’s teams. Mark Christie of Mullingar Harriers holds the course record of 29.35, set in 2011. There are prizes cash also for winners in the under 19, over 40, over 50, over 60 and over 70 categories. Spot prizes will be awarded randomly throughout the field.
The race is open to everybody from club runners to fun runners and there is also a walker category. All finishers receive a high quality medal and can then enjoy the legendary Slaney Olympic hospitality with tea/coffee and sandwiches galore at the prize giving afterwards.
