From Pamela O’ Hanlon A nice cool breeze whipped up from the sea as we gathered in the Salthill carpark yesterday, 3rd May, at 8pm. After a quick introduction between Seb and us 8 future triathletes, those of us who hadn’t arrived wetsuit-ready, quickly togged into our sea gear.
A dash was made down to the beach and without much fuss we tore into the water. Pretty cold on the exposed body parts but we had to work so fast to Seb’s orders that not much time was wasted on self-pity! After a few 60m in and outs it was back up to the bikes to get the dry gear on.
We were paired up and, alternating running and cycling every 2-3 minutes, circulation wasn’t long flowing back to the toes! Just after the Galway Business School we turned and headed back for the carpark here Seb was waiting to send us on our merry way for a hot shower!
I don’t think I’m being too presumptuous when I say that everyone had a brill session and certainly had their limits pushed by Seb – the endorphins flowing around my body certainly didn’t ease off until a couple of hours later!
