
Athletics Northern Ireland The season has started with a number of good performances at various competitions such as the schools districts and last night the hot weather at the throws and sprints meeting also had athletes setting a sizzling pace. Gaby McNally showed that she was in good form last night throwing a personal best and new unofficial U17 best performance of 46.88m and followed up with an even better throw of 47.09m today at her school district championships (results to confirm this performance).
The scramble for Commonwealth Youth places continues, as Jason Harvey in only his 2nd 400m race this season, ran a pb of 49.6 sec, at last nights sprints meeting. Other significant performances are Noel Collins 800m 1.54.1 and both Ciara Mageean and Hannah Lewis have good indoor performances which they will be looking to convert to outdoors.
The next few weeks should have this age group continuing to produce good results as the mid to late June nomination time comes closer.
