This year’s BrayLakers Santa Run will take place on Saturday 10th December. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun, whether you are a serious runner looking for a challenge, or if you are looking for a fun and healthy way for you and your family to get into the festive spirit while helping out a worthwhile cause.
There are two elements to the Santa Run, both of which will start at Katie Gallagher’s on Bray Seafront at 1.45pm. There’s a fun run, (or walk!) which will go from the seafront up to the Holy Redeemer Church on themain street. Everyone who enterswill receive a Santa hat, and will get a medal at the finish posts. Santa has promised BrayLakers that he’s going to do his best to be there at the finish to see all the boys and girls who take part. BrayLakers are asking that participants would wear something red on the day, to help to add to the festivities. Entry fee is €5 each or €15 for a family. Entries will be taken from 12.30pm at Katie Gallagher’s, and there’ll be entertainment for all before the start.
The second element of the Santa Run is a 5 km race, which will be officiated in line with Run Ireland regulations. The perpetual BrayLakers Santa Run will be presented on the day, along with prizes for each category.
Entry for the 5 km on the day is €15, or you can pre-register on runireland.ie or braylakers.ie for €12.50. Santa suits will be given to all 5km runners on the day, and hopefully participants will get into the spirit of the season!
All of your entry fee will go to BrayLakers, which is a group providing sports and recreational activities to adults and children with special needs. Club Chairman, Frank Thornton, said “the people of Bray have always been very good to BrayLakers and we are hoping for a good turnout for the Santa Run. We now have over 400 members in our club and it’s great to be involved in an event like this that raises much-needed funds while at the same time providing fun for allour supporters. So please come along and support this great event.”
