None The Annual Raheny 5 mile race attracted up to 2,000 people yesterday with many Donore singlets dotted throughout the field. The race started at 3pm and managed to avoid the downpour that hit the earlier Juvenile races. That rain however did little to dampen the efforts of our Juveniles with some excellent running. Seán Meyler ran very well to finish 3rd in the U14’s 800m while big brother Eoghan finished 9th in U16’s mile race. In the same race, new comer to Donore and athletics, Dean Glennon ran a fantastic race to finish 3rd in a time of 4.40. Congratulations also to Ellen Meyler on winning her age group.
In the 5 mile race Fergal Swaine was our first man home in 28.02, with Aiden McGrath 28.32, Gerry McDonald 30.48, Padraig McGreal 31.01, Feargal McAuley 31.02, Garet Cooke 31.23, Charlie O’Neill 31.30. Louisa Nesbitt was our first Lady in 33.02 while Mary McDermott finished in 33.58. Well done to all who competed including: Julia Hackett, Karen McLoughlin, Cathy Shortt, Mary Kingston, Dave Hudson, Mary Murphy, Joan McTernan, Tommy Halton, Betty Kehoe and Anne Woodlock.
