From IMRA As this is an uphill only race finishing on the summit of Djouce we expect some competitors may be out for 2 hours. This raises obvious safety concerns with nightfall encroaching. If you are concerned that you are not of the required fitness to race for an hour and then jog back on your tracks then this is not the race for you. Please read the following safety guidelines: It will be compulsory to carry a rain-jacket.
The summit marshalls will be instructed to descend at 8.30. Therefore THE RACE IS OVER AT 8.30. If you are not at the top at this stage you MUST turn back and return to Crone Wood. If you are worried you wont make the summit by 8.30 then start with the early starters (see below)
Race starts at 7.30 pm but there will also be an early start (7pm ish). If youre winning time is usually above 180% of the winner?s you should start with the early starters or earlier. You can tell the summit time-keepers that you are an early starter and give them your time if you have it recorded. It will be recorded anyway once you inform them you started with the early group.
ALL competitors are required to return to Crone wood after the race where their number will be collected and recorded at the gate from the WW into the carpark. This is so that we know exactly who is or is not on the mountain. Competitors MUST return to Crone Car Park by the Wicklow Way after descending Djouce the way they ascended (keeping clear of climbing runners ofcourse) to ensure we know where to look for a missing runner.
Please make your way (jogging or running) directly back to Crone Car Park via the Wicklow Way. Do not congregate on the summit or obstruct officials there.
Prizing Giving after in the Glencormac Inn. Lets get the carpooling going again folks. Only 2 people availed of nearly 20 seats on offer from the city last week. Our sport takes place in the outdoors, lets make our sport an example to others. Carpooling can used from the Glencormac Inn if you have to drive that far.
Lets have a good, fair and safe race.
