Ultra running in Portumna ! One of East Galway’s most beautiful parks will host a number of exciting new long distance foot races on June the 26th next. The inaugural Portumna Forest Park 100km & Marathon will take place on the 26th of June next and is being organised by Galway based coach and events organiser Seb Locteau of www.sebfitness.com.

The races, which are supported by both the Shannon Oaks Hotel and Coilte, will take place on shaded forest paths around the beautiful state park in Portumna. There will be a 50km option for those who just can’t make their minds up between the marathon and the much longer 100km event. Race promoter Seb Locteau is excited about the unique venue for the races, "Portumna is an absolutely beautiful place to run. Obviously, the route is completely traffic free and winds along good quality paths though the forest and has nice views of the lake. The event will raise funds for the Portumna Youth Cafe (www.signout.ie), which will provide the volunteers and supporters on the day.
