Pieta House, The Center for the Prevention on Self-Harm or Suicide, located in Lucan, Co. Dublin are holding a special fundraising event (open to all) called ‘Darkness Into Light’ in the Phoenix Park on the May Bank Holiday weekend. Pieta House, Centre for the prevention of Self-harm or Suicide opened its doors in January 2006. Founded by Psychologist Joan Freeman, Pieta House is Ireland’s first community-based centre for the prevention of self-harm or suicide. Our service is free of charge. Pieta House offers a specialist treatment programme for people who have already attempted to take their own lives, for people with suicidal ideation and also for people who have engaged in self-harm. We address the growing problems of hopelessness and despair in our community, which for some may lead to attempting suicide. Join us for our inaugural charity walk/run, starting while it’s still dark and finishing as dawn is breaking. This will be a symbolic event to give hope to those affected by Suicide and Self-Harm.
