
With only 26 training days to go to the third annual Run Kildare event, comprising of a 10k, a half marathon and a full marathon, preparation is full swing and all systems are go! We are pulling out all the stops to ensure a very successful, professionally run, and friendly event which we hope will provide vital support for all our most deserving Irish charities, local and non.
All three races have something to offer, no matter what class of runner you are. The varied terrain here on the Curragh plains will not disappoint nor can be experienced anywhere else in the country. Whether you are chasing a PB or out running to receive your first medal warm welcome awaits you. There promises to be a lot of local support on route and the Newbridge Brass band will keep you running to the beat! This year on Sunday the 13th of May 2012 the Full marathon will kick off at 9.00 am sharp! The half marathoners will be put under starters orders at 11.45am. Followed by The Curragh 10k at 12.45pm Entrant’s information: • There are 8 water stations plus energy boost stations on the Full Marathon route and water available at the finish line. • There are 2 Enervit Orange gels per person supplied for the Full Marathon runners, go to www.runways.ie for more details • There are 4 water stations on the half marathon route and water available at the finish for the half marathon route. • There is 1 water station and water available after the 10K race • The course is accurately measured by a AAI Course Measurer. • Official Marshals will be visible around all 3 courses • Wearing an ipod or other similar device is not recommended for your own safety. • Toilets will be available before and after the race at the Curragh Racecourse and at some points during the race. • Gardai/civil defence will be visible on the day, follow instructions carefully. • First Aiders and 6 ambulances will be available on the day. • The Marathon course will stay open for a maximum of 6 hours 30 minutes. • The course will close at 3.30pm on Sunday 13th May 2012. • Entertainment and a picnic will be available at the finish area. • Runners are asked not to bring valuables to the race and to leave any after race clothing in their cars.
