The irishrail.ie Dunboyne 4 Mile Road Race to keep runners on track. Dunboyne will be the next stop for recent running converts from the RTE Operation Transformation series.

Ronan Scully and Sinead Heffernan – two of the stars of the RTE Operation Transformation TV series – are now both hooked on running! Their next challenge will be the irishrail.ie Dunboyne 4 Mile Road Race & Fun Run on Sunday, March 27th and they are confident that the entire Operation Transformation Volunteer team will join them in this popular event.

“All the Volunteer Team took part in the RTE Operation Transformation 5K in the Phoenix Park last month and the experience whetted our appetite to take part in more running events,” Ronan Scully said.

The irishrail.ie Dunboyne 4 Mile Road Race & Fun Run is billed as ‘A Short Race with a Big Reputation’ and has taken place annually for over four decades. The event has a special place on the Irish road race calendar and this year the local Dunboyne Athletic Club are hoping for an entry of over 1,000 in the 4 mile event, as well as more big entries in the Under 12 (800m) and Under 15 (1mile) events that are also part of the programme.

The town of Dunboyne provides a unique setting for the walkers, joggers and runners, who each year enjoy the carnival-style atmosphere. The event has been central to the social and sporting fabric of the county Meath town for close to half a century and new title sponsor irishrail.ie will bring an extra dimension to this year’s race. There are a number of associate partners too including the Irish Independent,SPAR, Dunboyne Castle & Spa, STT, ASICS and Verve Fitness. Associate Sponsor, the Irish Independent will publish full results of the race on March 28th.

This is the first year of the irishrail.ie title sponsorship of the Dunboyne race – an ideal opportunity for the company to highlight their new rail service to Dunboyne, launched last September.

“We are delighted to be associated with an event with such a long and successful history, irishrail.ie Marketing Manager, Paul O’Kelly said. “I hope that the irishrail.ie involvement with this year’s race will help to increase the number of entrants and we are looking forward to a great day’s running on March 27th.”

RTE Operation Transformation volunteer, Sinead Heffernan is also looking forward to the four mile challenge. “It will be a step up from the 5K event that I have already completed,” Heffernan said. “It will be nice to have another running challenge at the end of this month and Dunboyne seems like a good place to go on March 27th.

The irishrail.ie Dunboyne 4 Mile Road Race & Fun Run is open to walkers, joggers and runners and the entry fee is pitched at the very competitive price of just €15. All finishers will receive a high-quality souvenir technical T-shirt, a Goodie Bag and generous amounts of post-race refreshment.
