Hello all We had a very good race at Tymon Park recently and we thank the people at South Dublin County Council for their work They made great efforts when they found out at a very late stage that the hall would not, after all, be available. There were some teething problems with the new timing system but we are confident that these have been overcome. There will be mats over the timing mats to protect them from spike damage at future cross-country races.
This Saturday 21 January 2012 will see the Eircom cross-country races at Cherryfield Park. Women’s race is 2 miles and starts at 11.30am and the men’s race is 5 miles and starts at 12.00 noon. Registration will take place at the clubhouse of Ballyboden St. Endas GAA club across the road. There is a map on the BHAA website if you need directions.
The team prizes from the South Dublin County Council race will be distributed on Saturday too. The RaceTec software supplier has made enhancements to the program to facilitate our team requirements. Make sure you stay for the prize-giving because last year there were some great spot prizes for which you had to be present to collect.
Just a note on the race numbers. The race numbers have the RFID tags stuck on to the reverse under the foam strips. These race numbers are re-usable. If we can re-use a number three times, we will be saving money in comparison to the bar-coded numbers used previously. So, at the end of the race, after your number has been recorded manually (as backup), can you please remove your number. Take out the pins and retain them for re-use and place the number in the bag or box provided. At the last race, a committee member took them home, removed any remaining pins, cleaned and sorted the numbers which took him some time. This is a job that could easily be done after the race while waiting for the results and wouldn’t take very long if a few people helped, so if you hear the call for volunteers, you know what to do.
One final reminder: we prefer that people would pay their membership renewals online through the BHAA website as it would save quite a bit of admin work.
Enjoy the race.
