from Athletics Association of Ireland Website Colin Quirke Sets New National Junior Discus Record Colin Quirke of Crusaders AC has broken Nicky Sweeney’s National Junior 2kg Discus Record at the Oklahoma Christian Open in Edmond Oak on the 5th of April with a throw of 55.23 meters. This throw smashes Sweeney’s 1998 record of 50.42 meters demonstrating the talent of this young eighteen year old. This throw meets the qualification standard for the European Juniors (50 meters) and European Under 23 Championships (55 meters). Quirke has already qualified for both championships in the Shot Putt when setting a National Junior Indoors record of 18.75 meters.
