This is the fifth year of this very popular park run that traverses the beautiful Rossmore Forest Park starting and finishing at Monaghan Uniteds clubhouse. The run enters the park after 650mtrs through the main gates taking a course that leads to the opposite end of the park and back. On the way the runner passes a disused 100 year old Hydro station, crosses 3 pedestrian bridges, past 2 lakes, a restored mausoleum (at 4km – high on the right). €15 for runners, €8 for walkers and €5 for the fun run. Chip timing but apologies to those who were disappointed last year, when the chip timing system let us down, no fault of the committee. No online applications yet, a project for again. Application forms are available on the Blackwater 10k facebook page and will also be distributed among various clubs and venues over the next few weeks. Registration will also take place on the day before the event the 12th in Monaghan Shopping Centre but also at Monaghan United soccer club on the morning of the event. The organisers wish to thank Monaghan United for providing the venue, Coillte for the use of the park, Barry Aughey for use of parking space at K. Fried Chicken, Francie Mc Quaid Tyres, Grahams furniture warehouse, Kingspan Century Homes for the use of their respective parking areas and stewards and helpers on the day.
