Run, Jog or Walk 10K for Ollie A very worthy charity event that everyone should get behind… The Milltown 10K “Run for Ollie” is taking place again this year on Saturday 18th June at 3pm. Registration is just €30 and if you wish there are sponsorship cards available. Just drop an e-mail to friendsofollie@gmail.com to receive one.

You can register online at www.runireland.com or alternatively registration will take place on Friday evening from 6.00 to 9.00pm and on Saturday from 11.00am to 2.30pm in the Milltown Community Centre.

Everyone who participates will get a commemorative t-shirt and those who finish will receive a medal for their efforts.

The Route is officially measured (Jones Counter). We welcome runners and walkers of all ages and abilities to take part. Prize giving will take place in Sheridan’s Bar Milltown immediately after the race.Ollie’s Story

On 31st October 2007 Ollie Burke’s life changed forever.While carrying out electrical work he fell from a ladder suffering severe head injuries which resulted in an acquired brain injury. Ollie spent the following sixteen months in Beaumont Hospital and University Hospital Galway where he underwent a number of serious life threatening operations. He spent a further four months in National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dun Laoighaire and is now severely incapacitated as a result of his injuries.His recovery is very slow but there are signs of improvement however small. Intensive speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and the provision of round the clock care are among his ongoing needs. Respite for his careers and the provision of these services are a priority at the moment.
