TWO men are running 126 miles – the equivalent of five marathons – in one day from Limerick to Dublin this week to raise thousands of euro for the Special Olympics.

Brian Maher, a DJ and presenter with Spin 1038, and running partner, Mike Sheridan of entertainment.ie, will set out to run their ‘Challenge 126’ this Thursday, April 26 from 7am outside Debenham’s in Limerick city.

A gruelling 30 hours later, after a few brief pitstops to stock up on calories and replenish their energies, they expect to arrive on Dublin’s Grafton Street. People especially runners are being asked to meet up with them and run a few miles with them to show their support.

The route will take them along the R445 from Limerick to Nenagh, Roscrea, Portlaoise, Naas and finally on to Dublin.

Last year Mr Maher ran 126 miles over five days – raising €15,000 for Special Olympics Ireland – and now he’ll be condensing this running time into just one day. Donations can be made through www.challenge126.com or text the word ‘Donate’ to 57252 to give €2 to charity.

You can track Brian and Mike on their Challenge 126 route by GPS on www.challenge126.com or on Twitter @challenge126

It’s believed that this Challenge 126 is the first time that a charity run over 100 miles non stop has been completed in the Republic Of Ireland. Best Of Luck guys
