Race Day information
Race Day Sunday 4th September 2011
Registration: All intending participants will have already registered on or before 5.00pm on Monday 29th August. Registration will be available on the day of the event in Lough Rynn Castle Hotel ballroom from Sunday 4th September, 9.00-11.30am. At the registration desks all participants will be given a timing chip and official racing number. There will be registrations forms left in some local businesses in most of the towns around Leitrim. There will also be registration evenings held in the Leitrim County council Offices, Aras an Chontae, Carrick on Shannon, on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th August from 5.00 -8.00pm. Timing chips: All participant that have requested to wear a timing chip on their shoe, will be given one at registration on the morning of the event. All participants will be using disposable timing chips that you fasten to your shoe lace.
Start line: The starting line will be beside the entrance gates to the Lough Rynn Castle Hotel and the starting time will be 12.00pm. For safety and comfort, walkers in particular are advised to start towards the back of the field.
Finish lines: The finishing line will be just down from the hotel and 300 yards from the starting line. At the finish Line, there’ll be a photographer snapping everyone who crosses the line. You’ll be able to see the photographs shortly after race day is completed by visiting our photo gallery on the website sports@leitrimcoco.ie/10km
First Aid: First aid will be provided on the day by the Civil Defence. There will also be collect vehicle and broom wagon. Where a participant is unable to continue, please inform event personnel immediately and we will endeavour to remedy each individual situation.
Medals: Everyone who finishes the course gets a medal and these will be given immediately after the finish line. There will be prizes given out to the winners for the different categories.
Traffic: All competitors should note that while most of the course is closed to traffic, there might be traffic on certain roads. The Gardaí will operate a stop/go system for traffic on certain roads but all participants will be given priority at certain junctions. Although some parts of the roads are officially closed to traffic, please remember that essential traffic will be guided through the course by the Gardaí and marshals and that there is always the possibility of traffic straying onto the course inadvertently.
Toilets: Toilets will be available for all participants in the woodlands ballroom in Lough Rynn Castle Hotel on the day of event, beside the registration area.
Changing Facilities: There will be male and female changing rooms in the woodlands ballroom, beside the registration area.
Water: There will be 2 water stations on the course, with additional water available at the start line and at the finish line. There will be a mix of bottles and cups. Drinking water will be available at 2 stations across the course, so if you carry your own bottle you can fill up at any of these stations along the route.
Charity: There are no nominated charities for this event. Should an individual/group/club wish to use this as a fundraising event you must seek approval from Leitrim Sports Partnership beforehand. It is optional for each participant whether or not he/she wishes to raise money through sponsorship for an appropriate cause.
