The 2008 West Cork Triathlon will take place on Saturday July 5th in Baltimore.
The event promises a tough trial of the sea and land along the West Cork coast taking in Lough Ine, Baltimore and Skibbereen areas.
The event will comprise a 1500 metre swim ( wetsuits essential ) starting in Baltimore harbour and ending on the strand at the transition area. The cycle will be a 45 kilometre spin out of Baltimore , taking in Lough Ine and returning to Baltimore followed by a 10 kilometre run around the roads in the vicinity of Baltimore village where the event starts and finishes.
Not one for the faint hearted and definitely one to test the strongest tri-althlete.
After the race there will be a barbeque/buffet for all participants and their supporters. The meal is included in the triathlon entry fee. Prize giving will take place during this period.
Registration for the event is limited to 250 and the package includes event participation and after party in the picturesque host village of Baltimore.For accommodation we highly recommend making it a 2 night stay minimum in the Baltimore and Skibbereen area . There is a Friday night registration which
should make saturday morning a little less fretful. We will have a list of local accommodation on the site shortly.
