The 2nd King of Gullion takes place on the beautiful, scenic Slieve Gullion. The race starts at the Car Park at Slieve Gullion Courtyard and takes in a 10k loop of mountain trails before returning to finish at the carpark. The race begins with some steep sections and a few curves to help you take in the fantastic views. After that it’s all downhill to the finish!! If you missed it last year – now is your chance to see what all the fuss was about! Yet again the goody bags and post-race refreshments will be a treat worth running for 🙂 This event is run directly by Southern Area Hospice and all proceeds go straight to Southern Area Hospice Services helping us to help those with life-limiting illnesses. Contact mulkernsl@southernareahospiceservice.org for more info on Hospice Fundraising. A former volcanic site, Slieve Gullion is steeped in myth and legend, and is the centre of a famous natural phenomenon called a ‘Ring Dyke’. The Ring of Gullion itself is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Hopefully we will have a clear day on November 2nd and participants will be able to enjoy spectacular views of The Ring of Gullion, The Cooley Mountains, Dundalk Bay and beyond! Event schedule and times Please be at the Courtyard from 11am. Trail Running Shoes are advised. Warrior Wear is encouraged! There will also be family activities during the race for a small donation to Hospice – a Family Walk, Art Activities. In addition there is an award-winning adventure playground on site. So bring the family along to cheer you home! Parking available at the Courtyard. Grounded Cafe at Courtyard.
