The Kildare Half Marathon is the first half marathon in Ireland to introduce pacers The 1st inaugral Kildare Half Marathon now have over 1000 entries for the race that takes place on Sunday 9th May from the Curragh Racecourse at 1.00pm. They also have a new welcome edition to a Half Marathon in Ireland, pacers set to complete the race at 1hr 30min, 1hr 45 & 2hrs. We wanted to introduce some new ideas to our 1st Half Marathon race that we bring to the Irish Market says Jo Cawley Race Director for the Kildare Half Marathon. There will be quite a few runners that will not have experienced pacers at a half marathon before. Looking at the predicted times given from those who have entered the race so far, the pacers we have in place will assist many of our runners meet there goals which will be a positive experience for them.
We have other exciting things happening on the day, Catherina McKiernan will be with us opening and starting the race off for us, we shall have a strong military presence on the day and they will provide a few surprises on route which will be apparent on the day. We shall also have a live band at mile 9 to keep the spirits up, a keep our runners motivated.
We shall introduce a full marathon in 2011 at the event which shall also include pacers so our half marathon runners will be well used to the concept by then.
