
Galway’s biggest road race hits a big birthday this year, as 2015 sees the 30th running of the iconic race around the ‘Streets’ of Galway city. The Galway City Harriers organised 8km race takes place Saturday 8th August next around the city streets .This year the race is expected to have over 3,000 participants with many top Irish athletes competing , as well as huge numbers of local runners and Galwegians who never miss the challenge!. Local businessman Martin Kearney of Kearney Cycles is once again race sponsor, for the third year running.
The race starts and finishes in the Claddagh area of Galway city , with the start at GTI , at 7pm sharp and the finish in South Park . The course winds a path on the roads and streets through the city-centre and out into the Salthill suburbs, before returning on the roads along the coast-line to Southpark in the Claddagh where the finish-line is located.
Entries will close in advance of race day , but can still be made via online race-registration partners, ACTIVE.com. This year’s event has a prize fund of over 5,000 euro and many category prizes open to masters athletes .
