from Athnery AC Next weekend Ray O’Connor will attempt to complete his 100th race of at least the standard marathon distance – an achievement that only a handful of Irish people have managed before.
Known to one and all in the club as the founder and race director of the Connemara Marathon, Ray has been an active member of Athenry AC since the very early days and will bring the good wishes of all our members with him to the starting line next weekend.
Although next Sunday’s race will mark the end of one chapter in Ray’s running story, I’m sure the following chapters will be equally as interesting, inspiring and adventurous.
