Entries open for 21st SPAR Omagh Half Marathon 2010

from Athletics Northern Ireland This year see’s the 21st running of the Omagh Half Marathon on the 27th March. The event has grown year on year during the past decade, with last year 1700 runners taking to the street of Omagh. Preparation for this year’s event are well under way with the committee, lead sponsor SPAR and other sponsors looking to develop the event even further.

Each year many thousands of pounds is raised for charities, either with the associated charity or thought the endeavours of the many hundreds of people who run the half marathon or fun run each year for their own dedicated charity. This year the associated charity is Grove Hill Animal Shelter and £1 from every half marathon entry will be donated.

The success of the SPAR Omagh Half Marathon and Fun Run has been built on creating the friendliest event of the running calendar. There is a £4000 prize fund this year and bonus for a course record. There also some small changes to the event, with an official walking start at 11.00am and special commemorative gift for the 21st running.
