Press release Adamstown Launches Inaugural 8k Road Race Adamstown, 28 April 2009 – Adamstown Community Partnership today launched the inaugural Adamstown 8km Road Race which will take place on Sunday May 24th. The race committee has put up a total of €10k in bonuses if the mens and womens Irish 8km road race records are broken in the first ever Adamstown 8k.
The current Irish road race records over 8km are held by John Doherty and Sonia O’Sullivan. Doherty set his record in the US back in 1989 when he ran 22:08. O’Sullivan set her record in Scotland in 2000 at 24:43.
