Canicross Ireland are delighted to announce their event Dogs in the Bog! This event is taking place on 23rd April at Lough Boora Parklands in Co. Offaly.
Come and jog with your dog in the bog, past the sculptures, old trains and lakes. There is a lovely cafe on site, so coffee and cake after you expend the calories. The 5K run will be canicross only, but there will also be a shorter relay featuring bikejoring and scooters.
There will be goody bags for the first 100 entries received, a medal for all entrants and rosettes for the first three in all classes. We will also have spot prizes, but won’t tell you what they will be for until after the run.
If you think you may not be up to running the whole 5K, don’t worry-it’s not all serious runners going to the event. We will be having a novice race at it too. This is for:
~ anyone who jogs and would like to try it with their dog
~ people who already run with their dogs
~ anyone starting to get into jogging (couch 2 5k or anything like that)
~ people who think it sounds like fun & would like to know more about the sport
Don’t worry if you can’t run the whole 5KM-you won’t be alone!!!! I know there will be people running, walking, rolling and crawling the course!!!
Remember-although being classed as a race, the novice race is also for fun too.
The novice class will allow people to take part with their dog using a collar and normal lead, without the use of a waist or hip belt, as we are aware that a lot of people run with their dogs, but don’t have the canicross equipment. We will also have equipment available to borrow on the day, harnesses of various sizes, lines and belts. We don’t have a huge amount of loan equipment, so it will be first come, first served, if you would like to book equipment beforehand, please let us know. 085 1054009 or secretarycanicrossireland@hotmail.com
It’s called Dogs in the Bog for a reason, so be aware-you will get mucky!!! It’s all about getting out into the Irish countryside with your dog and like-minded crazy people!!!!
