About This Activity
It’s the last weekend race day before Christmas and it’s Croghan Athletics Club’s second annual Santa Dash. It’s a chance to shake off the last of the cobwebs before the big day or a personal pat-on-the-back for having all the hard work done before Santa comes down the chimney. Even if you don’t have everything ready by then, you’ll find yourself a stone’s throw away from the beautiful town of Gorey before lunchtime, with a guilt free afternoon of shopping ahead of you if required.
Whatever your motivation, you’ll be covered. A five mile road race for those of a competitive spirit, with cash prizes for the first, second, and third placed men and women, as well as great category prizes for first Over 40s man and woman, over two laps of a fast and exciting course. For the more laid-back and funloving runners and walkers we will have a 5km fun run where participants are invited to dress up and let their hair (and beards) down and cover one slightly longer lap of the course.
There will be prizes for those demonstrating excessive Christmas spirit and fun throughout the race.
The races begins and ends outside the Coolgreany National School, in North Wexford. (Just up the road from Inch on the old N11 – turn at Petrol Station in Inch). The fun run will begin at 11am, while the Road race starts at 11.30am. The village is less than one hour’s drive from Dublin and the atmosphere promises to be one of festivities and fun.
Commemorative t-shirt and Goodie Bags will be handed out to all participants after their race and all are invited to post-run refreshments. Participants in the 5km Fun Run and Walk and the 5 Mile Road Race are advised to arrive into Coolgreany village for 10am.

Event details and schedule
Arrive into Coolgreany village around 10am – stewards will be on hand to help you with parking.
9.30am – 11am – Number pickup and last minute registration.
11am – The 5k fun run will begin.
11.30am – The 5 mile Road Race will start.
12pm – Refreshments will be served
12.30pm – Prize giving
T-shirts and goodie bags will be handed out as you cross the finish line. Spot prizes will also be handed out then.
Please remember that this is a road run and although the route will be well stewarded, please take your own personal responsibility seriously by watching out for and observing vehicles along the way. Also bring sufficient clothing, including a change of clothes, for a winter’s morning. Lastly, and most importantly, remember to bring your game face with you. Let’s have fun out there.
