None Mairead O’Sullivan, on behalf of the Cork Simon Community, accepted a cheque for €3,000 representing the proceeds of the race. Thanking the participants and the Cork BHAA, who organised the event, Mairead stated “This will go towards the provision of a cold weather shelter for the homeless, which will be open during Christmas and the New Year”. The woolly hats and gloves, which were generously donated in large numbers, will be put to good use during the coming months.
