2009 Results The race went very well on Monday, not even the rain could dampen the spirits of almost 250 runners, and 100 walkers for the third year of the Carney Lisadell 10k. Everything went well, with over 100 children taking part in the now traditional curtain raiser, kids races through the village, with medals for all participating. The 10k itself went very well, with the walkers starting at 11:30, and the runners seen off by Irelands 3000m European Bronze Medalist, Local woman, Mary Cullen. The pace was well set by Dubliner Phil Kilgallon, who led the field home in 34mins 36 secs, followed by local men Turlough Conway and Richard Gorman.
First Woman home was local legend Lucy Brennan in 37mins27secs, followed home by Olivia Feeney and Cindy McCarthy who pipped Roseanne Mitchell into fourth place by the narrowest of margins.
There was a great spread in Oxfield Sports Centre afterwards, with speeches from Special Olympics Athletes going down very well.
The organisers are already looking forward to next years event, as the appetite for this event seems to grow year on year.
