Hello all
Last Saturday we had a fantastic race at the K Club. Gerry Byrne and his team made a huge effort and made the most of the resources available to them. We had a good course, top quality facilities and a great spread afterwards – and all of this with the very first race organised by Gerry and colleagues.
They also managed to cope very well with the large numbers. Well done and thanks to all at the K Club for the very enjoyable event and everyone who was there will be keen to return next time.

We have just enough time to catch our breath for the annual RTE 5 mile road race on Saturday at Donnybrook. The race starts at 11.00am but you should be aiming to get there early as this is always a very popular and enjoyable race that has deservedly won the BHAA race of the year award on three occasions. I would suggest that you should try to get there well before 10.00am to enter and to savour the atmosphere. Registration closes at 10.30am. Delays in processing entries cause delays in producing results so this cut-off time will be enforced.
There is plenty of car parking at Montrose with changing facilities at the RTE Sports and Social club. The race finishes on the set of Fair City and is good preparation for anyone doing the women’s mini-marathon in June.
A reminder about headphones: BHAA rules prohibit the wearing of headphones in our races. This is important in road races for safety reasons as the roads are not officially closed and you will need to be able to hear what is going on around you. In addition, if people are being lapped by faster runners, we don’t want to have any confusion.
Enjoy the weekend.
