With a real buzz about road running 10k’s and Fun Runs this year the entries have been flying in for the Bann 10k & Fun Run.

You can still enter both the 10k & Fun Run on Sunday 17th May at Havelock Park between 1pm – 4pm and to ease congestion at registration on the night of the event you can pick up your pack (number, t-shit, timing chip) at this time.

Heather commented:
“2009 seems to be experiencing a bit of a running boom with road races seeing huge numbers of participants competing.

The Bann 10K & Fun Run is only in its third year, yet already is a well established fixture on the calendar. We welcome runners of all abilities- the event on Wednesday 20th May can cater for everyone!”

The Bann 10k is open to all (over 15 years), ranging from beginners to experienced athletes. Walkers are also welcome, while the Fun Run is for families and fun runners.

Paul Rowan and Louise McClean who won in 2008, will be eager to return to the testing course and retain their titles. Recent athletes who have featured heavily on the medal table in road races include Ed McGinley, Stephen Scullion, Jo McAllister and Ryan Faulkner and who may take to the line for the Bann 10K.

Local Schools have again been involved a competition to design the official Bann 10k & Fun Run T-shirt. The 2009 winner was Alicia Price from Ballydown Primary School, Banbridge.

Entry forms will also be available in Shoefair Sports, Banbridge, Dromore and Rathfriland Leisure Centre.

You can enter on the day of the race from 5.00pm – 6.45pm at Havelock Park. Registration on the night will be 10k – £11 & Fun Run – £7.
