North Leirim Glens Run 2011 Race Report Well done to everyone who came out and supported the North Leitrim Glens Run in very wet, windy and humid conditions.
Hardy ideal conditions for walking and running but that seem to slow down North Leitrim AC, Liam Feely and Roseanne Mitchell, Sligo AC, first male and female home over the 13.1 mile course. Liam, after a long spell out with injury, clocked a great time of 01:17:33 and Roseanne, using the race as training for the Dublin City Marathon, came home in a time of 01:35:19. Second man home was Thomas Kelly, Sligo AC, in 01:19:43 followed closely by Seamus Somers, Sligo AC, in 01:22:17. Second lady home was Tara Malone, Enniskillen Running Club, in 01:37:42, hot on her heals was Helen Corbett, Galway City Harriers in 01:38:25.
In the 10km route Neil Faulkner was first man home in a time of 00:36:19 making it two in a row for the Lurganboy man. Second man home was Peter Finnegan of Armagh AC in 00:37:12. Third male home was Brendan Gill of Mayo AC in a time of 00:38:25. The 10k ladies section was a close run race won by Sligo AC Cindy McCarty in 00:45:47, second was Patricia McCosker, North Sligo AC, in 00:46:21 and third place when to Monica Henry, South Sligo AC in 00:47:25. In the 10km walking category Paul Brady was first male home in a time of 57:30 followed by Phillip McHugh, 01:06:25 and Thady Mc Ternan, 01:15:25. First lady home was Mary McGurrin in 01:04:49, second was Aoife Mc Partland in 01:07:05 and third was Grainne Collins. The first male walker home in the Half Marathon was Noel Tighe in 02:53:11. First lady home was Noreen Colreavy, 02:41:07 followed by Carmel Dunlop, 02:52:35 and third was Angela Keegan-Rathcliff in 02:52:35. A big thank you to all who took part and supported our two nominated National Charities for 2011 Cystic Fibrosis and The Sligo Leitrim Mountain Rescue Team. We would also like to thank the volunteers who gave up their Friday and Saturday to help organise the event and finally your help was greatly appreciated.
