Connemara Ramble & Run

0

The annual Croí Connemara Ramble or Run will take place over the Maumean Trail on Sunday, September 23rd. This event is hugely popular, taking place over a section of the Western Way/Maumean (10 miles).

This is a really fun day out – attracting a mix of people of all ages (**under 16’s must be accompanied by a parent/guardian). Last year, for the first time, individuals were given the opportunity to run the route in the inaugural Maumean Trail Run (for a runner it’s a challenging ‘off-road’ experience). The entry fee is €20 and each walker/runner must raise a minimum of EUR100. Anyone who raises €200 or more will be entered into a draw for a Berghaus rucksack.

Pre-entry is essential and registration takes place on the morning of the event in the Maam Community Hall. The Ramble itself commences at 12 noon and participants will be transferred by bus to the starting point, finishing up back at the Community Centre in the Maam Valley. Refreshments will be provided en-route and also at the end of the challenge.
This is an ‘off-road’ event and is ideally suited for those who would enjoy a leisurely stroll through beautiful Connemara or for the more enthusiastic, a challenging ‘off-road’ run on the rugged trail through the Maam Valley. For walkers and runners, conditions under foot vary according to the weather. While it is a marked and well travelled trail, rain can make the surface mucky and slippy!
