Mark Kirk Awarded UKA Coach of the Year

350 attendees enjoyed the Aviva Athletics Awards – a celebration of athletics in 2010 – at the Sir David Wallace Hall, Loughborough University on Saturday 4 December. Lagan Valley’s Mark Kirk has won the prestigious UKA Development Coach of the Year. Mark is an extremely dedicated coach working with a large group of athletes on a weekly basis and it is a well deserved award for all the hard work and dedication he has to the sport.

 Mark earlier won the regional area at the Athletics NI Awards.

Mark is an extremely dedicated coach working with a large group of athletes on a weekly basis. The age range of his athletes vary from 14-30 and although the majority are Lagan Valley athletes may come from different clubs across the greater Belfast area. Although Marks coaching ensures all athletes are enjoying their training he also gets results.

At the Ulster Schools Track & Field Championships won eight medals and 7 athletes achieved selection to the Irish Schools championships. His daughter Katie who swept the board this year by winning every age group title in Ireland and UK and represented NI at the Commonwealth Games and GB at the Loughborough International at 4×400m.

Mark is extremely dedicated to his development as a coach and all his athletes benefit greatly from his dedication.
