
The Allianz Resolution Run is a 5K road-race that takes place every year at 1:00pm in Galway City centre on New Year’s Day. The course starts and finishes at the Spanish Arch, pases the canal, cathedral, Shop street, Eyre Square and most of the city’s famous landmarks along the way. The race is AAI certified.
The race starts promptly at 1:00pm. Race number pickup is in The Shed/Spanish Arch between 10:30 and 12:30 on the morning of the race. Entries cost €18 on-line for anybody over 18 or €9 for ages 14 to 17. There will be some entries available on the day at the rate of €20 and €10 for juveniles, however the race is limited to 500 entries. All entrants will receive a souvenir pair of gloves.
The race is AAI certified and has been officially measured with a Jones Counter. All participants will be chip timed by Red Tag Timing. Individual results will be sent out via text and all results will be available on www.redtagtiming.com and on the event website www.resolutionrun.ie shortly after the race finish.
The route is suitable for runners and walkers of all abilities. It is a very flat course with the maximum height gain being 15 metres. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: Male and Female Senior (first and second ), V40, V50, V60 and Juvenile. There is also a perpetual cup presented to the first male and female teams. Teams are automatically composed of the first 4 same sex runners from any Irish athletics club.
There will be teas, coffees and snacks available for all participants in The Spanish Arch Hotel on Quay Street after the race. Presentation of prizes will take place at 2:30 pm.
Please note that there will be no changing facilities or showers available. Roads will not be closed for the event, however there will be marshals at all junctions.
