from Galway City Harriers webiste Christine Kennedy ran a US best time of 2:51:36 for 50 plus in the Utah St. George marathon last Saturday 5th October.
This amazing time bet the previous record which was 2:51:14, but unfortunately won’t stand as US athletics have deemed the course to have too much downhill for record purposes.
The marathon begins in the Pine Valley mountains and runs through scenic southwest Utah – it is rated as one of the most scenic marathons in the world by Runner’s World. Christine was 5th overall and 1st Master over 40, for which she won a trip to Japan to compete in a half-marathon in November.
This was Christine’s best time for over 10 years and no-one would bet against her getting that record in a Spring marathon like Boston next year. Our photo is from the marathon website at: https://www.stgeorgemarathon.com/. Congrats Christine on a great run from all at GCH!
