Whitegate to host cup again. Whitegate in County Clare will hold the Dinny Ryan Cup-a 10km Road race once again. The race will take place on Monday 3 May at 11am in Whitegate. Dinny Ryan was a well known cross country runner who ran numerous races in the 1940s often for no more than the sheer pleasure of it.
The race will attract both the serious runner and family walker alike and will take in the scenic surrounds of this most beautiful peninsula in County Clare. This is the first time that the event has been held on the May Bank Holiday Monday and event organizers hope for an enthusiastic response from local runners. As it falls two days after the start of Summer,it is hoped to encourage runners to blast into the new running season with lungful s of fresh Clare air.
