from Padraig Marrey You have probably seen this already but have you read it….
This Sunday is a chance to get in some Adventure racing practice… why ?
there is a hill Run/Walk in Clonbur as part of the Haiti Goal fund raiser.
A few of us are going to cycle the Cloaghbrack, Cornamona Clonbur loop (21k) first and then try and catch the walkers going up the scenic path of Mount Gable ( they go up the steep side) and down the path (10k) this is a good opportunity to get valuable training done while helping a worthy cause.
Sign on opens at 11am at the Community centre Clonbur and activities start at 12noon.
If you are interested in this added bit of ADVENTURE ask for Padraig or Fergal at sign on.
See attached full program of activities, so why not bring the family???
Pre season MTS Training day February 13th The cycling racing season kicks of in 4 weeks, The Duathlon series is already up and going and Adventure racing kicks of in early March, so want to test your fitness pre the season???? while picking up some valuable tips from the best coaches out there in these disciplines, then February 13th is a must.
The aim is to have 2 groups on the road which should cater for most abilities. With this camp we want everyone to be able to cycle at least 55miles and for tri-athlete/adventure racers to be able to run at least 3k after the cycle spin. At the last camp we cycled 65 and 50 miles respectively but this time we are looking to up the anti a bit, so you have been warned… for the racers the last 25k will be race simulation so a great way to blow out the cobwebs for the races ahead.
We are also adding a little brick session in, so bring runners..
The main emphasis for this training day will be hill and mountain climbing, so what goes up must come down, groups will be practicing descending on a closed road circuit, at the end of the spin there will be a short race, coaches will be on hand to correct riding techniques and to run the session.
.
Both groups will have full back up cover with following vehicles etc. so remember to bring own spare wheels and bottles.
