Welcome to the Wicklow Gaol break Half Marathon and 10km.
Hear ye! Hear ye!
Wicklow Gaol is full to bursting point with inmates. The Governor has to act to quell the tension deep within and free up cells. He decides to hold a running competition to allow some inmates earn their freedom. The gates of the Gaol will open and those inmates who accept the challenge will be given the opportunity to ‘break out of gaol’ and take their chances on the NEW unchartered roads of Wicklow Town.
Winners from both events will get automatic freedom and a full pardon. A few winners, however, does not solve the Governor’s overcrowding dilemma. More will have to be released… He has decided to grant full pardons to one section of the event – either the 10km or Half Marathon convicts…
Will it be speed or endurance that will gain favour, impress the Governor and lead to freedom….? His mind is made up but it won’t be revealed until convicts cross the finish line on race day.
Convicts – choose wisely which event to enter on May 22nd… it could be your ticket to freedom or a short lived taste of beautiful Wicklow Town before you return to your cell… Its Wicklow Gaols best kept secret!
