from Daithí de Faoite In March 2010, a new and exciting festival will come to Ireland for the first time. Running is a central part of the festival. The event will run, non-stop, in a relay-race type format for 7 days and seven nights on a 1500km journey through 400 towns and villages across 17 counties of Ireland.
The festival, called Rith 2010, is inspired by a Basque festival called the Korrika. This festival which start in 1980 to promote the Basque language now attracts crowds of over half a million on each event. The Irish event aims to promote interested and enthusiasm for the Irish language is rooted in a festive spirit of inclusiveness, community and fun.
We are hoping for the support of Run Ireland in our endeavour. The festival hopes to attract people who love to run as well as those who wish to demonstrate pride in their national language.

Our event will be officially launched in late October when we will pubilsh our new web site and publically release the full details of the course. We would love to have the official support of Run Ireland for the event. We are hoping that the event will appeal to your members and all those to who love to run.
We are currently contacting the head offices of GAA, IRFU and FAI looking for support from their clubs and members along the route. We also intend to contact the sports and athletics clubs along our route over the coming months.
