This race also incorporated the Galway County AAI 10K Road championships for 2009.

The Clare River Harriers (CRH) A.C. 10 Kilometres (6.2 miles) road race in Claregalway was a tremendous success with over 200 runners taking to the roads around Claregalway on Saturday evening last.
This race also incorporated the Galway County AAI 10K Road championships for 2009. The race was sponsored by the Central Tavern in Loughgeorge, Claregalway.
In memory of the late Brendan Gavin of Loughgeorge, Clare River Harriers Athletic Club donate 5 euro from each race entry to the Galway Hospice and this year’s race contributed €1,175 to Galway Hospice.

1. John O’Brien (GCH) 36.27

Men Over 45
1. Martin Corcoran (Craughwell AC) 34.31
2. TJ White (Tuam AC) 37:16

Men Over 50
1. Mike Harvey (Kilmurray-Kilbracken AC) 39:11
2. PJ Hall (Mayo AC) 41.30

Men Over 55
1. Frankie Garrihy (Ennis Track) 40.08
2. John J Higgins (Corofin AC) 44.04

Galway City Harriers AC won the men’s team event with 26 points (Matthew Lockett, Tony Scanlon, John O’Brien and Ian Egan)
Craughwell AC were second with 31 points (Martin Corcoran, Johnny Lane, Patrick Holahan and Tom Niland).
Tuam AC were third with 78 points (Dan O’Rourke, TJ White, David Mullins and Ollie Higgins).

1. Elaine Walsh (Athenry AC) 41:08
2. Jean O’Connor (GCH) 42:01
3. Irene Gorman (GCH) 42:44

Ladies Over 35
1. Ann Marie Miskell (Tuam AC) 41:55
2. Brona Croke (Doneen) 42:27

Galway City Harriers AC won the ladies team event with 18 points (Jean O’Connor, Irene Gorman and Bernie Kelly)
Athenry AC were second with 26 points (Elaine Walsh, Martina Fahy and Grainne Breen)
Craughwell AC were third with 126 points (Julie Gallagher, Cepta Daley and Mary Loughnane)

Galway County AAI 10K Road championships for 2009.
The 2009 Galway AAI 10k road championships were also held as part of the Claregalway 10k road race.

Galway City Harriers won the County Galway men’s team gold medals, with Craughwell AC winning silver and Tuam AC winning bronze.

Galway City Harriers also won the women’s team gold, with Athenry AC winning silver and Craughwell AC winning bronze.
