The Dundrum South Dublin AC has been in electric form of late smashing the Irish 400m record with a lightening 44.77 seconds performance in Madrid on July 4th. He followed this with another quality sub 45 second run in Rome in 44.82 seconds to finish second. At the Barcelona Meet this weekend he finished second in 45.48 seconds. Gillick will compete over the 200m at the championships.
Eileen O’Keeffe
Olympian and Irish Hammer Record Holder, Eileen O’Keeffe of Kilkenny City Harriers will be looking for her ninth National title when she enters the hammer circle on the 1st of August. O’Keeffe has shown incredible strength of character to be back in 60 metre plus throwing form following her operation that rectified the injury which inhibited her performance in Beijing.
