Raheny Look to do Double at Road Relays

from A.A.I The Woodie’s DIY Road Relay Championships will take place this Sunday in Raheny, Dublin from 2pm. The host club, Raheny Shamrocks, who are coached by Dick Hooper, are favourites to win the Senior Men’s Gold. Lead by Vinney Mulvey, who finished 5th in the Great Ireland run recently he will be joined by Richard Corcoran, Mark Kirwan and Kevin Moriarty. They will be pushed all the way by reigning champions Clonliffe Harriers, Crusaders and DSD. Clonliffe Harriers however will be without James Nolan, who was part of the winning quartet last year and Mark Kenneally. Crusaders will be fielding a strong team made up of Thomas Chamney, Alan O’Brien, Eugene O’Neill and Garrett Coughlan while DSD will have Alan McCormack at the helm.

The Raheny’s Senior Women’s Team of Annette Kealy, Orla O’Mahoney and Susan Byrne will be looking to retain their 2008 title. However they will face tough opposition from Clonliffe Harriers and DSD.

Clonliffe Harrier team includes Becky Woods, Francis nic Reamoin and Louise Reilly. While DSD have entered two strong teams; The Ffrench-O’Carroll twins are joined by Fiona McKenna while Aoife Byrne, Linda Byrne and Hazel Murphy make up the other team.

Senior Men’s: 2 miles x 1 mile x 3 miles x 2 miles
Senior Women’s: 1 mile x 2 miles x 1 mile
