
by Jeremy Lyons Colin Quirke of Crusaders AC has broken Nicky Sweeney’s National Junior 2kg Discus Record at the Oklahoma Christian Open in Edmond Oak on the 5th of April with a throw of 55.23 meters. This throw smashes Sweeney’s 1998 record of 50.42 meters, demonstrating the talent of this young eighteen year old. This throw meets the qualification standard for the European Juniors (50 meters) and European Under 23 Championships (55 meters). Quirke has already qualified for both championships in the Shot Putt when setting a new National Junior Indoor record of 18.75 meters earlier in the year.
Colin is son of legendary Irish shot putter Paul Quirke.
