
from Finn Valley AC by Kieran Carlin. Over a thousand turn out for the first running of the race in memory of Paula Gallen. Castlederg the venue for the 1st running of the Paula’s memorial run. This race is to raise funds and to promote awareness of Cancer. A well-organised race and a glorious day added to the atmosphere, whilst men women and children decided to run in the chosen colour of cancer Pink that added colour to the proceedings. With a one o’clock start the clatter of feet made their way to the line. Pat Paula’s husband Pat blew the whistle that started the first running of the race.
Ian Ward, the national Junior Cross Country champion won the race with Darren Mc Glinchey 2nd. Dominic Bonar 3rd. First woman home was Kay Byrne, winning the Perpetual Cup. 1st local runner home was Niall Gallen, son of Paula, a fitting tribute to his mother.
The girls under 16 Category was won by local girl Eimear Kelly with Melanie Penrose 2nd. The Gallen & Glackin families must be thanked for the time and effort put into the organising of the race. For full results see www.paulasrun.com.
