
Rás na hÉireann Local hero Keith Kelly returns to competitive action Dunleer Athletic Club’s 40th annual Rás na hÉireann International Cross Country event takes place this Sunday 22nd February, and is part of a Sport and Cultural week, in tandem with Armagh AC and their road race tonight in Armagh city. The Rás na hÉireann Cross Country event takes place this year at a new and historic venue: at the Battle of the Boyne site, Oldbridge, Drogheda.

The event starts at 12 noon, with a full programme of events from under 9 to masters level with a fun walk, jog, run at 4pm to close the day. Minister for Justice Dermot Ahern TD will open the event at 12 noon.
We are delighted to have local hero Keith Kelly compete in the senior men’s event alongside his Providence Rhode Island teammate Mark Carroll. Also running for Ireland will be Vinny Mulvey from Dublin. The Irish men’s team will compete against quality athletes from Finland, England, Wales Poland and the USA.
In the ladies’ section we will have Deirdre Bryne of DSD and the Irish ladies competing against Jessica Minty from the USA (9.15 for 3K), Jenn Donovan (Current New England Cross Country Champion) as well as the former Finnish women’s marathon Champion Pauliina Utrainen, and other athletes from Poland, Finland and England.
