from Munster Express On January the 4th we travelled to Nenagh for the 1st Championship of 2009 which was the Munster Junior Indoor Championships. Our athletes got off to a good start for the New Year when Aoife Bartley won her Junior Women’s 60mH in a time of 10.25 and she won the Triple Jump with a jump of 10.46m. In the Relay Final the girls had a great race each of them running a competitive leg. The team was Aoife Bartley, Tara Fogarty, Hannah Trehy, Yvonne Maher.
In the Junior Men Championship Shane O’Dwyer had a great High Jump competition where he was 4 years out of his age and came second with a jump of 1.75m. Keith Smith was 3rd in his 60mHurdles in a time of 9.17 and 4th in his Long jump with a jump of 5.74m. Dara Kervick was 4th in the 200m Final with a time of 23.60.
Sports Star Awards
Congratulations to Shane O’Dwyer who won the Munster Sports Star Award for the Best Tipperary Male All Round Athlete. And also congratulations to Aoife Bartley won the Joint Triple Jump Award and Aoife also was the winner of the prestigious Annerville Award.
A new Season has commenced. All our members should return for training and to get fit for the Indoor Championship. Training is Tuesday or Wednesday and Friday at 4pm in the Sean Kelly SC field.
