from Finn Valley AC The Woodie’s DIY Indoor Relays & Combined Events got underway in Nenagh at the weekend, Two Valley athletes, Jodie Stewart and Shauna Carlin competed in both the long jump and shot putt relays, finishing 2nd in both events. In the Junior Combined events Jodie was an excellent 2nd. Having false started in the 1st event the 60m hurdles some caution was called for, getting a slow start of the blocks the second time round Jodie finished 4th. Having finished four events Jodie was 3 points down on the eventual winner Sinead Moloney from St Killian’s, Going to the line in the last event Jodie’s point total was 1947pts, with the last event being 800m. This would be a test of her training and determination. Finishing 6 seconds down Jodie would have to settle with 2nd place. A good early season performance for the young Convoy lady. Jodie now knows that she needs to work more on the technical elements. Having strong throws it now seems that some work is now required on the track. Jodie a talented and single-minded young lady should take great confidence from this competition with hard work and the guidance from former Irish National Long Jump Champion Shauna Carlin Jodie should excel. Jodie has a great future in the sport.
The club would like to congratulate Tir Chonaill AC relay teams who had excellent results in the National Indoor Relay’s in Nenagh.

The Masters will also be in action at the Northern Ireland and Ulster championships, which will be held at Stormont Castle Belfast on Saturday 17th January starting at 1.45pm.
All Finn Valley athletes age group (15, 16 & 17) who are competing in the Ulster Indoor athletics in the Odyssey Arena on the 7th & 8th February in Belfast should fill out their entry form and return to Bridged on reception.
