
from the AAI Athletics Ireland is currently seeking to recruit a Director of Coaching The Director of Coaching will be responsible for the implementation of the Coaching Strategy developed off by the Board and Coaching and Development Committee of Athletics Ireland.
The role is a critical senior position within the organisation and has the high level objective of delivering a recognised World Class coaching infrastructure.
The Director of Coaching will report to the Director of Athletics and will be based in Athletics Ireland headquarters in Santry, Dublin.
The Director of Coaching will be responsible for
– Developing and delivering annual operating plans in line with the Coaching Strategy. These will include
o Publication and ongoing development of comprehensive coach education pathways including the integration of coach mentoring and standard Level 4 option for Irish coaches
o Delivery of annual coach education targets
o Delivery of National Squads and input to other squad systems including Regional Squads and localised initiatives
o Developing coaching systems which will lead to increased depth at National level across events
o Development and implementation of national talent ID programme
o Delivery of an annual coaching conference
– Management of coaching staff and resources
– Managing the coaching budget and reporting on progress versus budget and operational targets.
Skills & Competencies
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and competencies
– A track record in management preferably of direct reports in remote locations
– A detailed knowledge of coach education pathways across sports and internationally
– Coaching qualifications to recognised Level 2 standard or higher
– Strong IT skills
– Strong administrative skills
– The ability to contribute to a team environment
– Excellent interpersonal skills
